Wildfire smoke could impact our area over the weekend

If you are driving around the area this weekend – do be aware there could be smoky conditions that could affect visibility.

Most of the smoke will come from a wildfire, known as the County Line Fire, burning on the Osceola National Forest, northeast of Lake City.

Officials say it’s a huge wildfire in a remote swamp that has made it particularly difficult to fight.

And since this year has been a hard one for getting prescribed fire done due to the ongoing drought, fuels in the area have not burned so the wildfire’s smoke is more intense.

The state emergency management office has issued a briefing packet about the smoke danger which you can see for yourself at the news page at oysterradio.com or on the oyster radio facebook page.
