NCH Homecare
Welcome Ann Wilson with NHC HomeCare, delivering in home doctor ordered medical care to qualified homebound patients who wish to stay at home for regular care or for special, short-term care after a hospital stay. NHC Homecare in Carrabelle started in 1994. They provide skilled nursing, physical therapy, and aids to help deliver care. NHC has thirty-seven offices in Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and Missouri. Their office is located 1617 West Highway 98 Suite E in Carrabelle. Blue Moon Inn Susan and David Morgan joined the chamber with The Blue Moon Inn, a lovely historic cottage in downtown Apalachicola with three options. Option one is a beautiful private master suite with a great front porch complete with rockers, spacious living room and dining room with wet bar, mini fridge, microwave and coffee corner. Option two includes the upstairs two bedrooms, one and a half baths, large downstairs furnished, kitchen, family room, loft landing, game room and sleeps sleep a total of six. Option three, the whole house, opens with French doors and will comfortably sleep ten guests. Contact them at (404) 550-5110 or by email or go to their website Tallahassee Regional Airport Marshall Taggart and Ann Marie Hunt with the Tallahassee Regional Airport joined the chamber. The airport currently has four airlines making daily flights out of Tallahassee-Delta, United, US Air and American. The newest coup for the airport is a nonstop to Washington, DC on US Air. The airport has an exemplary performance record on operations and maintenance has allowed it to receive the highest possible acclaim during recent federal inspections with both the TSA and the FAA. For details visit their website. Allen Jones Welcome Allen Jones who joined the chamber as an Associate Member. He just purchased 123 Commerce Street at the High Cotton Market Place, directly across the street from the chamber office and visitor’s center. He and his wife live in Pennsylvania but plan to be spending more time here in the future. Allen is retired. He is interested in finding a good retail or office tenant for the downstairs of the building. The space for lease is 900 square feet plus a small office/storage/ bathroom. Apalachicola Riverkeeper Fundraiser Now through 4th of July you can help save the Apalachicola River. Purchase SweetWater Ale's limited edition Waterkeeper Ale from Hole in the Wall, Honey Hole Liquors, Tap Room at the Owl Cafe, Captain Snook's, Blue Parrot, Sometimes It's Hotter, The Market Place,New Leaf Market in Tallahassee and the money will support the Apalachicola Riverkeepers. PLUS, attend the Takeover The Tap events on Thursday, May 31st, and get a SAVE THE APALACH T-Shirts, glassware and other goodies- Sometimes It's Hotter on St George Island from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm and at the Owl Cafe Tap Room 8:00-10:00 pm. Taste five different SweerWater brews including the limited edition Waterkeeper Ale, enjoy live music & some sweet raffle prizes. Hiring Burger King is hiring 16 year olds and above for their Apalachicola and Port St Joe locations. Starting pay is minimum wage, with the opportunity for growth and promotion within the company. Dixie Youth State Tournament Kim Johnson is in charge of organizing the volunteers and sponsors for Apalachicola for the Dixie Youth State Tournament in July. She needs donated items for the banquet giveaway on July 12th. Items like: beach towels, quad chairs, fishing poles, bags, sports gear, gift certificates, t-shirts. Business will get their logo or individual name on the back of the State Tournament t-shirt which will be worn all over the state of Florida. The sunset/full moon climb happens from 7:30 p.m. -9:00 p.m. and will include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon. The cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Space is limited, reservations are recommended(850) 927-7744 The Carrabelle Lighthouse will have a full moon climb on Sunday, June 3. They will show the movie Mutiny on the Bounty. For details call (850) 697-2732 Fisherman’s Choice 13th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament Charles and Rex Pennycuff are hosting their 13th annual Fisherman's Choice Youth Fishing Tournament on June 9th. Kids 16 and under will fish for fresh and saltwater species. Each entry receives a t-shirt, and after the tournament, entrees are invited to attend a cookout at Fisherman's Choice where they will weigh in their fish, eat hot dogs and hamburgers and get some great prizes. In years past, Rex says they gave away 170 rods and reels, tackle boxes and a dozen cast nets. Prizes are given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place, and include all major fish species. St George Island Mullet Toss The annual St George Island Mullet Toss takes place on June 9th on the public beach in front of the Blue Parrot. Our new year begins in July, and we are busily preparing renewal forms. In the next couple of weeks you will receive a worksheet that lists your business name, address, website, etc., and the main category you are listed under. The second page is a print out of your business information on the Apalachicola Bay Chamber websitewww.apalchicolabay.org. To ensure that we have all of your information up to date, please return the form noting any changes or corrections. Check your phone, email and website addresses and your keywords. Keywords help people locate your business in the website database. We also included information on the top section of the form that shows the number of times your listing has been viewed and the number of times your website has been clicked on. Charlene Mixa was here in mid May. She and her husband are freelance writers and have the websitewww.travelroads.com. Their story "Apalachicola: A Town That 'Time' Almost Forgot" appeared last week. They also wrote favorable comments on Tripadvisor all the sites/restaurants they visited. Brett Walton with Circle of Blue was given information for an article they are writing about the water consumption on the Apalachicola River. Circle of Blue is the international network of leading journalists, scientists and communications design experts that reports and presents the information necessary to respond to the global freshwater crisis. They publish WaterNews, the daily go-to source for global water news and data. Dr Beach named St George Island one of America’s Top Ten Beaches (#4) this year!
