The Cape San Blas lighthouse needs your help

The lighthouse on Cape San Blas is looking for help.
The Gulf is moving closer to the127 year old lighthouse every year so now the Historical Society is looking for ways to protect the structure.
The lighthouse is on property that belongs to the U.S. Air Force and is leased to Gulf County.
The lighthouse and adjacent buildings have been moved further away from the Gulf a few times before, but now lighthouse protectors would just like to find a piece of land on the cape that is not threatened by erosion.
The lighthouse is a popular attraction – over 11 thousand people visited it last year; there were 250 people there just a few weeks ago for the lighthouse challenge.
Even if you don’t have a nice piece of property of Cape San Blas, you can still help with the effort to protect the lighthouse.
The Port St. Joseph Historical Society has opened an account with Cadence Bank to receive contributions to help fund the relocation of the Lighthouse.
You can also get more information by calling the Historical Society at 229-1151.
