The Florida Department of Education
has released FCAT writing scored for Florida ’s
4th and 8th and 10th graders and reading scores for 9th
and 10th graders.
Scores around the state were lower than usual this year
mainly because the state has adopted a more challenging test and because the
state raised the bar for a passing grade.
Results posted at the Department of Education website show
that 70 percent of Franklin County
4th graders scored a three or higher on the writing portion of the test,
down from 96 percent last year.
55 percent of Franklin
County 8th graders
scored a 3 or higher on the writing section – while 65 percent of 10th
graders got a passing grade.
38 percent of local 9th and 10th
graders scored a three or higher on the reading section of the test.

you would like to see FCAT scores broken down by district or by school and compare them to
