Cailtin's 2nd Annual Beach Cleanup!

It is that time of year again, Caitlin's 2nd Annual Beach Cleanup is just around the corner! On Wednesday, August 15, 2012, from 8:00am-10:00am I will be hosting Caitlin's 2nd Annual Beach Cleanup. We will meet up at Sometimes It's Hotter, 112 E. Gulf Beach Drive. After the event, Sometimes It's Hotter will be seving refreshments for all of the volunteers.

The reason behind my cleanup is to remind people of all the great things that could come from this. We could increase the number of marine life by minimizing the amount of trash on the beach. Sometimes the debris looks like fish and the marine life try to eat it. Then they could choke on it, get tangled up, or die from toxic chemicals. We could also attract more visitors/tourists by having a clean beach. The beach would be more inviting without an enormous amount of empty bottles, broken glass, and cigarette butts.

Last year's cleanup was a huge success with 25 volunteers that picked up nearly 50 bags of trash, weighing over 400 pounds! I am asking that the community of St. George Island come together to help beautify the beach and encourage more people to clean up the beaches in their community. All volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
