County commissioners will once again
discuss allowing St.
george
Island
to increase its fire protection assessment when the board meets on Tuesday in Apalachicola .
The St.
George
Island
Fire Department would like to increase the MSBU for island residents to 95
dollars a year.
Currently homeowners county-wide pay 50
dollars a year for fire protection; the cost is 10 dollars for undeveloped lots
and 100 dollars for most businesses.
The issue was tabled earlier this month to
allow the county’s attorney to investigate the issue.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda will be an update
from the county’s communication committee, an update from the Franklin County
Health Department and an update on the county’s active community development
block grant.
The board will also consider issues that
were brought before the county’s planning and zoning board and board of
adjustment.
County commission meetings are open to the
public – if you would like to attend tomorrow’s meeting it begins at 9 AM
at the Franklin
County
Courthouse annex in Apalachicola .
