The Franklin County Dixie Youth softball team is going to the Dixie
Youth World Series in August.
The 12 girl team went undefeated during the state tournament
this weekend – They beat Springhill 10 to 3, Hernando County twice, 12 to 2 the
first time and 18 to 8 the second.
They won the state title by beating West
Pasco County
The team, which includes girls from Carrabelle, Eastpoint
and Apalachicola will now head to Powhatan Virginia on August
3rd to play softball teams from around the Southeast.
Head Coach Kevin Newell said the trip won’t be cheap and the
girls will be trying to raise money for the trip over the next few weeks
