Hospital awarded state money to repair ambulances

The local hospital has been awarded a state grant to do needed repairs to their ambulances.

The Florida Department of Health awarded the ambulance service over 78 thousand dollars to repair the chassis on one ambulance and repair the air conditioner in another.

The grant only pays for 75 percent of the work, the rest of the money is coming from money raised through a 1 cent sales tax the county levies for health care issues.

The county commission has agreed to shift just over 26 thousand dollars from the tax funds to pay for the ambulance repairs.
