Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
Disturbance 26 is spawning some thunderstorms over the Yucatan. It is along 88W and moving west at about 15 mph. No development is expected as it continues to the west.
Disturbance 28 is a weak disturbance along 56W moving west at 15-20 mph. No development is expected due to the presence of very dry air in the area.
Disturbance 29 is along 36W and moving west at 15-20 mph. It is the most prominent of the disturbances in the Atlantic today. However, it is surrounded by dry Saharan air and this will stifle any kind of development over the next several days.
Long-Range Discussion
The tropical waves coming off the coast of Africa recently have been quite vigorous. We expect more of these vigorous systems over the next 10 days. Such strong disturbances may have better chances of development provided they are not stifled by the Saharan dust or strong wind shear as they move to the west. Right now, there is a just a slight risk of development in the eastern Atlantic over the next 7-10 days.
