Apalach happenings this weekend.


Maritime Museum
Friday, August 17th at 7pm a lecture on Maritime Archaeology in Northwest Florida will be given by Jason Burns, Maritime Project Manager at Southwestern Research Inc.  Burns' professional career has been focused on submerged cultural resources management and public information.  For more information, contact the Apalachicola Maritime Museum at 850-653-2500

The Family Portrait
On August 17 and 18 , "The Family Portrait" production, written and produced by Barry Hand will be performed at the Dixie Theatre at 7 pm. Tickets are $13.00 and can be purchased at the Box Office, Wednesday through Saturday 8-5. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $15.00. Yard Sale
The Franklin's Promise Thrift Store YARD SALE will be Saturday, August 18, from 8am-until. The store is located on Market Street across from Raney House, next door to Market Street Antiques, in Apalachicola.  Come join them for some real bargains. Call 1-855-272-5224 for more information.
 
The Water Street Festival of Ice
We salute Dr. John Gorrie, the man who brought the ice to ice cream and the cool to our hot summers.  "The Big Chill" Ice Era Exhibit runs through the month of August at the Center for History, Culture and Art located at 86 Water Street and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from12 noon to 5 pm.  This Saturday, August 18 from 11am to 4 pm, Historic Apalachicola Main Street, Franklin's Promise  and the City of Apalachicola will host a children's fun day at Riverfront Park.  There will be free snow cones and hot dogs, games and gifts.
