Tropical storm Isaac mandatory evacuation order for barrier islands and low lying areas effective 8 AM

The morning briefing showed some strengthening, but tracking more in a NW direction. The
storm is currently approximately 700 miles to the south, moving NW at 20 mph. From this
projection, the possibility of hurricane strength winds for our area is decreasing. A hurricane
watch is now in effect from Indian Pass to Louisiana, and a tropical storm warning from Indian
Pass east to Bonita Beach. Isaac is expected to become a category 1 hurricane Monday. The
storm surge for our area is expected to be in the 5 to 8 foot range, creating a mean high tide rise
of 8 to 10 feet. We are expecting tropical storm winds in our area between 4 and 8 PM Monday.
Wind speeds for the big bend region are expecting to decrease, but could possibly be at hurricane
force along the coast. Rain fall totals have been lowered to the 10 to 12” levels.
If the projected tract continues as presently seen, a possible Mandatory Evacuation could be

issued in the near future per the following order
