Thomas Maddi Photography
Welcome Thomas Maddi to the Chamber of Commerce.  Thomas is an accomplished photographer whose services include beach portraits, artistic wedding photography, and fine art landscape photography.  Thomas studied Fine Art photography, and has been a full time professional photographer since 1997. He opened his business when he first moved to Alligator Point in 1997, and has been serving the local and surrounding area for over 15 years. Thomas’ fine art black and white Florida landscape photography has won multiple awards. Thomas lives in the area with his wife Sandi, and daughters Ashlee and Abigail. The Beach Pit BBQ
Welcome John Cadriel and Mike Cannon with their restaurant, The Beach Pit-Old Time BBQ, Seafood and Steaks on St. George Island.  Mike and John have over twenty-five years of combined experience with Texas style BBQ, plus they serve great fresh local seafood, and a menu designed to please everyone in the family.  John and Mike bought the business last year in August 2011. The Beach Pit has a pleasant casual and intimate dining ambiance with seating available inside or on their outdoor screened in patio.  They also have a fully stocked bar.  The Beach Pit is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are open at 7:30 (or 7:00 am depending on the season) until 9:00 pm weekdays and close at 9:30 pm weekends. SGI Charters
Welcome Lee Chapin with his charter fishing business SGI Charters.  Lee has been here for eight years and has been charter fishing full time for five years.  He has a 22 foot Twin Vee with a 175hp Suzuki.  He does both bay and offshore charters, plus any kind of tour you might dream up including sightseeing and shelling tours, dolphin encounters, sunset cruises, and trips to St Vincent Island.  He also has a custom built aluminum shrimp boat on which he does shrimping tours. Golf Tournament
Tee up with business members from around the Franklin, Leon, and Wakulla County areas at the 9th annual Apalachicola Bay Chamber Of Commerce Golf Tournament on Wednesday, October 10th. Tee-time is 1:00 pm on the beautiful St. James Golf Course, just east of Carrabelle. The tournament will be a four man scramble, low score wins, with prizes for the top three teams. Scores will be totaled and prizes awarded at a reception following the tournament. Cost per team is $400. Fees include range balls, and golf carts equipped with the latest color GPS system. Full Moon Climb
The August 31st, there will be a “Blue Moon” Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse.  The Sunset/Full Moon Climb will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon.  Cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association.
Apalachicola Maritime Museum 
Saturday, September 1st, the Apalachicola Maritime Museum will have a special appreciation day for locals. Pre registration is required. There will be a St. Vincent Island Trip from 8:00 to 12:00, Educational Estuary Cruise 1:00-4:00 and Kayak rentals from the docks, all day. Be sure to bring your Franklin county license or some other proof of residency.

Friday September 21st, Barbara Hines, with the Florida Public Archaeology Network, will do a talk on Turpentine and the Naval Stores Industry in North Florida and on Apalachicola's importance to this industry.

Saturday, September 22, 7:00- 10:00pm Franklin Price, with the Bureau of Archaeological Research, will talk about his work on the wreck of Blackbeard the Pirate's vessel on the North Carolina coast.  The wreck of Queen Anne's Revenge, flagship of Black Beard the Pirate
 His experience in underwater archaeology includes both maritime and inundated prehistoric projects. Contact the Apalachicola Maritime Museum for more details at (850) 653-2500

Estuaries Day 
Come celebrate Estuaries Day on September 28th, 1:30-6:00 pm at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve in Eastpoint.  There will be lots of free educational (and fun) activities for kids of all ages, free t-shirts to the first 600 people and door prizes for adults who stay until the end of the event.  There will be scavenger hunts, animal touch tanks, games and much more. Enter the parking lot from 108 Island Drive no earlier than 1:00- visitors will not be allowed to enter the building or park until 1:30 when the event officially begins.  

Camp Gordon Johnston
Saturday, September 29th Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum will participate in the Smithsonian Magazine’s Annual National Museum Day. 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. Come view their ever-growing exhibits and see documentary movies throughout the day—some

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) workshop was a great success. We had six businesses come in for one-to-one consultations and eighteen people for the Facebook/Social media workshop later that evening. -Jeff Burlew with the Tallahassee Democrat and Deneige Broom with WCTV called for information about the economic effects of Tropical Storm Isaac on of Franklin County.
