County commissioners this week approved their designees to
this year’s Value Adjustment Board.
That board hears petitions from taxpayers regarding their ad
valorem tax assessments and homestead issues.
By law the board is made up of two county commissioners, one
school board member, one local property owner and local business owner.
On Tuesday, county commissioners named Smokey Parrish and
Cheryl Sanders to the board – they also served on the board last year.
The property owner member will be Walter Armistead who has
served on the board for a number of years.
The county commission also agreed that Paul Currington will
continue to serve as the Special Magistrate and Rachel Chestnut will continue
to serve at the board’s attorney.
