Friends,
Laughing Gulls at Lanark Reef by George Willson
The last remaining private tract on one of Florida’s most important waterbird nesting islands is up for sale.
The Florida Panhandle’s Lanark Reef is avitally important nesting site for Brown Pelicans, American Oystercatchers, Black Skimmers and more. Reddish Egrets dance on the flats in late summer, and rare Red Knots and Piping Plovers call the Reef home all winter.

Buying thelast remaining private parcel on this island and making it asanctuary will make the threat of development a thing of the past. In partnership with state and federal resource managers, Audubon will also be able to better protect these vulnerable species from disturbance.

Audubon is working to make this acquisition a reality; you can help us protect and manageLanark Reef as a sanctuary for birds.
Your gift will ensure a bright future for Lanark and its remarkable birdlife.
Please help us make the most of this rare opportunity. Lanark presents one of thelast examples of what was once commonplace on Florida’s coasts: a dynamic barrier island, shaped by wind and tides, supporting a vibrant natural community of Florida’s signature wildlife - without a car or a condo to its name.
Sounds nice, doesn’t it? We think so too.
Adopting part of Lanark as atribute or memorial gift is a wonderful way to honor thenature-lovers in your life. Select this option on the contribute page and you will be able to send an electronic card on behalf of your loved one.
Thank you.

Sincerely,

Julie Wraithmell
Director of Wildlife Conservation
