Flu season is just beginning so this is the time to get
vaccinated and there will be two vaccination clinics in Franklin and Gulf Counties this weekend to help you get it
done.
Health professionals recommend that everyone get a flu shot
every year- especially people with weakened immune systems or long term health
problems, as well as pregnant women and residents of nursing homes or other
chronic care facilities.
Flu shots are also strongly recommended for children between
the ages of 6 months and 5 years.
On Saturday Franklin
County residents can get flu shots
at the carrabelle health department building from 9 until noon .
The Gulf County health department will offer flu shots at
the Wewahitchka Health department building from 9 till 1 central time.
If you can’t make it to either clinic, the shots are also
offered at most pharmacies in the area and at doctor’s offices.
Flu shots are 25 dollars, but are covered by medicare,
medicaide and most private insurance.
If
you’d like more information about the flu vaccinations, you can call the health
department in Apalachicola at 653 -2111 or in Port St. Joe at 227-1276.
