New training program could help local business hire new workers

If you are thinking of hiring new employees – the Gulf Coast Work Force has a new program that could help.

On the Job Training is a new workforce program operated by the Workforce Center that helps pay for the costs associated with training new workers and for the loss of production that can happen while a new worker is being trained.

Through the program, 50-90% of the new employees’ wage rate will reimbursed during the training
period which is about 12 weeks.

The program is structured to have prompt payments, minimum paperwork, and provide employers assistance throughout the entire process.

The Workforce Board even recruits and screens the applicants.

If you are a business owner and would like to learn more, call Johanna White at (850) 227-8752.

There is also a brochure available that explains the program in detail.

You can get that from the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce, we’ve also posted it on the news page at oysterradio.com
