UF OYSTER RECOVERY TEAM TO MEET WITH SEAFOOD WORKERS FOR INFORMAL LISTENING SESSION TUESDAY, OCT. 9



WHAT:   The University of Florida's Oyster Recovery Team will hold an informal listening session regarding the collapse of the Apalachicola Bay oyster fishery and response efforts. The audience is expected to include Apalachicola-area seafood workers and concerned citizens.

WHEN:   5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012

WHERE:  Fort Coombs Armory, 66 Fourth St., Apalachicola, Fla.

WHO:    UF scientists will be on hand to hear from members of the Apalachicola Bay oyster fishing community and area residents, hoping to learn about local citizens' concerns, observations and suggested directions for research and outreach

WHY:    The listening session will help guide the efforts of the Oyster Recovery Team and will provide local citizens with a chance to speak directly with UF scientists.

NOTES:  The Oyster Recovery Team will also hold a public meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve at 108 Island Drive in Eastpoint, Fla.
