DOT to discuss 5 year work plan on Monday

Officials from the Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing in Tallahassee next Monday to discuss the Department’s tentative five year work program.

The hearing will be held at the FDOT Midway Operations Center in Quincy to discuss planned projects for Franklin, Gadsden, Liberty, Jefferson, Leon and Wakulla counties.

There are some big projects planned for Franklin county over the next few years, including the resurfacing of Highway 98 from the Gulf County line to the Apalachicola Bridge.

The 4 million dollar project is expected to begin in 2015.

South Bayshore drive in Eastpoint will also be resurfaced and widened in 2015 at a cost of 1.6 million dollars and CC Land road in Eastpoint will be widened and resurfaced from 6th street to Highway 65.

That project will cost about three quarters of a million dollars.

Widening and resurfacing Bluff Road in Apalachicola is on the list for 2013.

DOT also plans to build a bike path from the Carrabelle Bridge to the Carrabelle lighthouse in 2013 and start the planning work for a bike path at Alligator Point.

A number of bridges will also be repaired in 2013 including porter Bar creek bridge, Yent’s Bayou bridge and Turkey Bayou bridge.

A similar hearing to discuss projects in Gulf and Bay counties will be held on November the 27th in Panama City.
