Operation Santa Needs Your Help!
Operation Santa has 196 families, that is over 730 people, in the system this year, and is in desperate need of gently worn clothing for elementary, middle and high school youth. If you have any gently worn clothing your children have outgrown please consider donating to the cause by this Saturday. Used Games and toys would also be very much appreciated. Items can be dropped at the Community Center on Shadeville Road. Please share this need with your employees and friends. How can you help?
- Adopt a family or two or three.
- Refer a family who needs help. (Apps are @ WCSO)
- Encourage family, friends and co-workers to join together to adopt a family.
- Volunteer at the Community Center; we have many jobs that need helping hands and you’ll find yourself surrounded by friends.
- Donate funds for our volunteers to buy needed items not donated.
- Ask your youth group, church family or civic organization to volunteer and assist in collecting needed items.
Weekend hours are available for youth activity involvement. For more information please call 926-3526

A Dedication and Remembrance at the CGJ WWII Museum
Date: December 7, 2012
On Friday, December 7, at 10:00 AM, the Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum will dedicate two flagpoles donated by Woodmen of the World. This dedication will be held at the new front entrance and a small commemorative plaque will be placed between the two poles.
After the flag dedication there will be a short ceremony to remember Pearl Harbor, the attack by the Japanese that caused the United States to enter WWII. The flag will be placed at half mast as Taps is played. It will be followed by a recording of Roosevelt’s “Day of Infamy” speech; the original was heard by this nation on the chief method of communication of that time, the radio.
Coffee and cookies will be served after the ceremony.
At 11:30 the movie Tora Tora Tora will be shown in the Museum’s Movie theatre. This film is being shown as a visual remembrance of the attack on Pearl by the Imperial Japanese forces on December 7th, 1941.
All are invited to come and, as always, admission is by donation and donations are always welcome.
