The Dixie Theatre
1913 ~ 2013

Bringing live professional theatre to the
Forgotten Coast

DEAR Manager,

Welcome to the February 2013 edition of the Dixie Theatre Newsletter.  This newsletter is only sent out when we have news to share or activities to report on.
Patsy: A Tributemargot andersonWe continue our 2013 adventure with the Dixie Theatre's 16th Professional Season in February when Patsy: A Tribute by Margo Anderson returns for her 7th appearance. This time 'round she's joined by the Encore Band, a group of six classic country    musicians, led by the Purvis Brothers, best-known for their beautiful, southern gospel harmonies and guitars.  Margo tells the rowdy, earthy story of Patsy's early days.  A revealing and absorbing performance, Margo's clear, powerful voice will captivate you as will her warm, sensitive interpretation of Patsy's down-home wit and timeless songs; February 1, 2, 3, Friday & Saturday 8 PM, Sunday 3 PM.

Bob Milne: Piano Wizard
milneThe following weekend, Bob Milne, the Piano Wizard, returns for his 14th year at the Dixie. The top ragtime/boogie-woogie pianist today, Bob delights audiences with his piano-playing pyrotechnics and his infectious enthusiasm for the music and the history behind the music. Show times and specifics for this incredible performer are as follows: Friday 8 February 8 PM Vaudeville & Tin Pan Alley, Saturday 9 February 8 PM Boogie-woogie & Barrelhouse and Sunday 10 February 3 PM Ragtime & Pianos on Fire. Don't miss your chance to hear our very own "National Treasure", designated so by the Library of Congress.

Vintage Hitchcock:  A Live Radio Play

Hitchcock-profileThen on Friday 15 February 8 PM, the Dixie Theatre Company production of Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play brings Theatre back to the stage with a Gala to follow opening night at the Apalachicola Seafood Grill. Spies, murder, love, and other trademarks of Alfred Hitchcock come to life in the style of a 1940's radio broadcast complete with vintage commercials, a daring train chase, a serial killer's ominous presence, and a devastating explosion through the magic of live sound effects and music. Many favorites return; David Caldwell back for his 8th Season directs and stars in this entertaining & exciting production (Sylvia, Forever Plaid, Smoke on the Mountain, Leaving Iowa to name just a few, Darren Server back after his 2005 appearance in Forever Plaid, Len Pfluger returns after 2 seasons with us for Leaving Iowa and Kimberly Akimbo and Sharon Malane who delighted us in Leaving Iowa. Rounding out the cast; Cleo Holladay (Driving Miss Daisy, Everybody Loves Opal, Love Letters, A Nice Family Gathering among others) and Dixie Partington (Sylvia, Always,..Patsy Cline, Smoke on the Mountain, Murderers, etc.) Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play runs February 15 - 24, Fridays & Saturdays 8 PM, Sundays & Wednesday 3 PM.
