There will be two coastal clean-up events in Franklin and Gulf counties this weekend.
The
University of Florida and with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration are looking for volunteers to participate in coastal cleanup
events on St. George Island on Saturday and on St. Joseph Peninsula on Sunday.
The
St. George Island Cleanup will be held from 9 till 1.
Volunteers
should meet at the lighthouse parking lot.
The
St.
Joseph
Peninsula Coastal Cleanup will take place from
9:00 till noon and volunteers will meet at Cape Palms Park .
Trash
bags, gloves, and water will be provided.
Volunteers
will help clean up trash and debris as well as document the amount and types of
items they pick up on the beach.
The
information will help determine sources of coastal debris to hopefully reduce
coastal pollution in the future.
If
you are interested in volunteering for these wither of the cleanup events,
