local unemployment ticks up slightly in December


Franklin County unemployment rose slightly in December for the second month in a row.
Local unemployment rose from 6.3 percent to 6.4 percent; Franklin County has the 8th lowest unemployment rate in the state.
351 people were looking for work in Franklin County last month, up from 346 people in November.
Gulf County saw a drop in unemployment from 8 percent to 7.7 percent.
458 people were looking for work in Gulf County in December, down from 480 a month earlier.
In Wakulla County the unemployment rate rose from 6.1 to 6.2 percent.
Wakulla County had the 5th lowest unemployment rate in the state in November.
 In Liberty County unemployment remained the same at 6.5 percent.
The Statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8 percent – down from 8.1 percent in November.
