One killed and one injured in Gulf County drunk driving accident

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a single car accident in Gulf county Thursday night.

The Highway patrol said 23 year old John Paul Tinsley of Callaway was killed at about 9 o’clock Thursday night when the car in which he was a passenger crashed on county road 386 about 4 miles north of Mexico beach.

The car, a 1998 Corvette, was being driven by 24 year old Carl Wilson of Port St. Joe.

The Highway patrol reports that Mister Wilson was speeding north on County road 386 and failed to negotiate a curve when the car left the roadway.

Mister Wilson overcorrected trying to bring the car back on the roadway and drove back across the road before the car flipped over, partially ejecting the driver.

Mister Wilson received only minor injuries in the accident; a second passenger in the car, 22 year old Vanessa Ann Raynor of Mexico Beach, was seriously injured.

The Highway patrol said the driver had been drinking.
