Art Exhibit and Reception at Wakulla Welcome Center

February 3, 2013 3:00 pm -5:00 pm
The Wakulla Welcome Center in Panacea is pleased to present a new art exhibit and reception featuring the Apalachee Bay Fire Station Art Group.
Most Tuesday mornings you’ll find as many as twenty busy artists at the Shell Point Volunteer Fire Department.  Locals and folks as far as Tallahassee gather from 9 – 12 am for art class.  Unlike most classes, there are no lectures or assignments.  Teacher Nell Schultz helps anyone who asks, and she volunteers her talent with a smile.  Group members also encourage and help each other, especially newcomers, in their artistic growth.
The group began some fifteen years ago and while the artists vary in age, most are retired.  Watercolor is the medium of choice for most of the painters, but several also use acrylics….  Each year, members donate paintings for fundraisers:  the S.C. Regatta, the Senior Center, Wakulla Library, and Wakulla Springs.  They also painted bowls for the recent Empty Bowl Project.
The painters contribute a small amount weekly to the fire department for use of the building, electricity, and water.  A few times a year spouses are invited to a potluck lunch.
As one visitor observed, “The artistic talent in our community is amazing.”
Please join us on Sunday, February 3, 2013, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Wakulla Welcome Center in Panacea.

Wakulla Children’s Fishing Tournament

January 30, 2013
Dear Potential Sponsor,
The Wakulla Children’s Fishing Tournament Committee is currently planning the 2013 tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013. We are looking for sponsors for the tournament. This tournament is for children and is free! During the 2012 tournament, over 150 children participated. For the 2013 tournament, we are preparing for 200 children. We hope to see that every child leaves the tournament with a T-shirt and a door prize.  One of the greatest parts of the 2012 tournament was seeing the children’s faces as they received a free rod and reel, tackle box, or other fishing gear. Every child who enters the tournament will have their name put in for the Grand Prize drawing. With your help we can make this possible.
On the back of the T-shirt, we will place the names of our $100.00 or more sponsors. For a $100.00 donation, you can have your name or your business name placed on the backs of the more than 200 T-shirts. All donations can be mailed to “Wakulla Children’s Fishing Tournament” P.O. Box 349, Panacea, Florida, 32346, or call Ann Cooper, 850-984-5501 or Peggy Bennett, 926-7227 and they will arrange for someone to pick up your donation. We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. We welcome any donation which you choose to give.
