County names more members to RESTORE council

Franklin county commissioners added a few more members to the local RESTORE council last week but have still not set a date for the group’s first meeting.
The RESTORE council is a 13 member board created by the county commission to consider projects proposed for funding through any money Franklin County receives from fines levied on BP because of the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Their recommendations would go to the county commission for final approval before being sent to the federal government for funding.
The board is includes one member each named by the cities of Carrabelle and Apalachicola, a school board representative and a representative from the Tourist development Council.
It also includes a member named by the seafood workers association, the seafood dealers association, the realtors association, and a member to represent environmental groups in the county.
Each county commissioner has also named a member from his or her district.
Last week the county commissioners named their representatives, the cities of Apalachicola and Carrabelle have not yet named their members, though Carrabelle is expected to do so soon.
Commissioners say they will have to scheduled the RESTORE council’s first meeting soon and seats that have not been filled by then will just have to be empty.
