FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL TAPS FAST TO LEAD LOCAL TROOP OPERATIONS
~ Fast to lead Troop A ~
PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol Director, Col. David Brierton, promoted Warren Fast to major
and assigned him to lead field operations in the Florida Panhandle, effective Feb. 8. Troop A comprises 10
counties, including Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun and
Gulf.
“The Department is proud of Major Fast who exemplifies what the Florida Highway Patrol stands for: Courtesy, Service, and Protection,” said Brierton. “I have full confidence in his abilities to lead the troop toward meeting our agency vision of a Safer Florida.” Fast began his career with the FHP in 1994 as a
duty officer and then a duty officer supervisor in Troop E, Miami. Fast was a member of the 89th Recruit Class, and his first duty assignment was in Troop D, Orlando. As a trooper, he served as a member of the
Dignitary Protection Team and a sniper with the Special Response Team. He promoted to corporal in 1999 and to sergeant in 2001. In 2003, he promoted to lieutenant as a shift commander and a sub-district commander in Deland. In 2009, he promoted to captain in his most recent position as Southern Region
Special Response Team commander in Troop L, Broward County.
