Franklin county to meet with senior service providers

County commissioners will hold a workshop in early March to meet with the various groups that provide services to local senior citizens.

The county is calling the workshop to find out which services are offered by each group and to make sure services are not being duplicated.

Commissioners said the workshop will be valuable to them, especially during budget time when they have to decide how much funding to provide to each group.

The workshop is scheduled for March the 5th at 1:30 in the afternoon.

The groups that have been asked to attend include The Franklin county Senior center and The Wakulla county Senior center because the Wakulla group provides meals on Wheels to the eastern end of the county.

The Apalachicola Senior Center will be invited as will the Gulf County Senior Center as it provides Meals on Wheels to the western end of the county.

The Franklin’s Promise group will also attend as it operates the county’s food pantry.
