St. Joe Pool and Spa
Jeffery Leavitt with St. Joe Pool and Spa joined the chamber last month. He has opened a new branch of St. Joe Pool in Eastpoint at 85 US Highway 98. It is on the East side of the Gorrie Bridge. Jeff fell in love with the Forgotten Coast, bought the company in 2007 and relocated to from Orange County, California. St Joe Pool and Spa offers maintenance, repair and renovation of pools and spas and has a full line of pool supplies and equipment including liquid chlorine. The Eastpoint store will be open from 9:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am- 2:00 pm Saturdays. They can be reached by calling (850) 229- 8090. They will have a grand opening on April 6th at 10:00 am. Stop by and meet Jeff and the staff. KaKo Bookkeeping Welcome Karen Wert-Wingo with her bookkeeping business,KaKo Bookkeeping. Karen has been in the business for twenty plus years. She offers free consultations and is a mess specialist. Karen worked for CPA’s in California, and she worked for the Franklin County school system for ten years as a bookkeeper for the food service and special program section. He was born and raised in Eastpoint, seventh generation, and has been fishing for thirty-five years. He offers offshore, inshore, bay and river fishing, plus floundering and bass fishing. He also offers eco-tours to the islands, sunset tours. Bruce has many boats to choose from including a 26 foot Hatteras, a 23 foot Mako, river boats, and a bass boat. Gulf Coastal Community Resilience Project The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve's Coastal Training Program in Eastpoint is asking for your input. They are working on a Gulf Coastal Community Resilience Project. As part of the project they have conducted Coastal Community Resilience Index assessments with Carrabelle and Franklin County Emergency Management staff, community leaders and citizens. As a result of the exercise, the groupdecided to work with local businesses on disaster readiness planning. To meet your needs as a local business, they are asking for your response in this survey at:http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ Events 15th Apalachicola Antique & Classic Boat Show Apalachicola will host the 15th Annual Apalachicola Antique & Classic Boat Show Saturday, April 20, 2013. Antique boats, examples of classic and traditional vessels, workboats, and fiberglass and aluminum classics will all be on display throughout the day. This festival emphasizes the maritime history of Franklin County. Special highlights include a boat building a demonstration throughout the day, authentic oyster boats, workboats, and home-built boats by skilled craftsmen, antique outboard engines, plus antique automobiles and art booths. The 1877 two masted, gaff-rigged schooner the Governor Stone will be docked at Riverfront Park for the festival and the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve will have displays on the Apalachicola River and its flora and fauna, plus demonstrations on oyster tonging. The 50 foot long Apalachicola Traders’ Canoe will be on display at the Cotton Warehouse on Water Street. The Apalachicola Maritime Museum will host the St. Petersburg Shanty Singers for a program incorporating history and maritime music of significance to the Apalachicola River and Bay from 7-8 to be followed by a shrimp boil on the docks. Panhandle Players The Panhandle Players will present The Jury, April 19, 20, 21st, at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Dixie Theater. Written by C. B. Gifford and directed by Margy Oehlert this mysterywill delight audiences. Ilse Newell Concert Series Sunday, April 21, 4:00pm FSU Voice majors will perform a repertoire of classical, Broadway and operatic selections at Trinity Episcopal Church. Full Moon Climb St. George Lighthouse The April Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be held on Thursday, April 25th. The Sunset/Full Moon Climb will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon. Cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. The sun will set at 7:55 p.m. and the moon will rise at 7:29 p.m. on March 26. After sunset, people are invited to climb to the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the full moon, as space and time permit. Captain Jack Fishing Tournament The Captain Jack Fishing Tournament will be held May 25th at the Alligator Point Fire Department. The entry fee for the offshore category is $350 per boat and the inshore category is $175 per boat. Cash prizes are awarded to the top spots in both categories.
