FWC to meet next week in Havana

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will meet next week In Havana.

The group will discuss a number of issues that could be of interest to local fishermen including a proposed red snapper season from June the 1^st through July the 14^th.

In a draft rule hearing, the Commissioners will discuss a proposal to eliminate the requirement for a recreational fishing license when targeting lionfish with certain gear and to have no recreational or commercial harvest limit for the species.

The Commission will consider a proposal to make tarpon and bonefish catch-and-release-only species.

In hunting issues, the commission will consider creating a Private Lands Deer Management Permit program for land parcels large enough to implement herd and wildlife management.

The meeting will be held on April the 17^th and 18^th at the Florida Public Safety Institute on 85 Academy Drive.
