Gov. Scott Announces Invitation for Teacher of the Year Summit

74 District Teachers of the Year to be Invited

TALLAHASSEE– Today, during the Quarterly Superintendent Meeting, Governor Rick Scott announced that he will be convening a historic meeting of each school district’s Teacher of the Year.  The inaugural meeting, Teacher of the Year Summit, will be held in June at the Governor’s Mansion.

Governor Scott is continuing his listening tour by inviting these great teachers from each school district to obtain their ideas on how Florida’s public school system can be #1 in the nation.

The event will be held on June 26-27 and will recognize the efforts from Florida’s excellent teachers and share best practices.

Governor Scott said, “I am very proud of the success of Florida’s teachers and will continue to work to improve education in our state. That is why I am proposing a $2,500 pay raise to benefit our state’s teachers during the current legislative session.  I look forward to recognizing and meeting with Florida’s 74 District Teachers of the Year.”

Along with the invitation, Governor Scott also highlighted his priorities for Florida’s teachers for the current legislative session.
