Local school system benefits from Tate's Hell timber sales

Timber sales from the Tate’s Hell State Forest have provided Franklin county schools with a big pot of money.

Last week the local forestry department gave the school system a check for 246 thousand dollars – it was the school systems portion of revenue raised through the sale of timber from the state forest.

The school district gets 15 percent of the revenue.

The school system gets the money every year – last year the schools received 224 thousand dollars.

The check presentation was made by Randy Gregory – operations administrator over Tate’s Hell as well as forester David Morris.

School Board chairman Jimmy Gander told the two that the school system appreciates what they do every year, but especially this year.
