Eastpoint man involved in fatal accident in Calhoun county


A 17 year old from Kinard Florida was killed in a two car crash in Calhoun County Tuesday morning after driving into the path of a semi truck driven by an Eastpoint man.

According to the Highway patrol, 17 year old Ryan Flowers, was turning off of County Road 392 onto State Road 71at about 7:30 Tuesday morning and pulled directly into the path of a Kenworth T800 driven by 45 year old Raymond Pelt of Eastpoint.

Mister Pelt had no way to avoid the collision and slammed into the drivers side of the Ford F-150.

Ryan Flowers was killed in the impact; Mister Pelt was uninjured.

Both vehicles came to rest on the northbound shoulder.

The Highway patrol said Highway 71 was closed for nearly 3 and a half hours after the accident.

Ryan Flowers was a member of the Kinard Volunteer Fire department – a statement on their facebook page said “Ryan was one of our best. He definitely will not be forgotten.
