Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council to Convene a Meeting of its Coastal Migratory Pelagics (CMP) Advisory Panel via Webinar

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council's CMP Advisory Panel will meet via webinar begininning 10:00 am Wednesday, June 12, 2013, and concluding no later than 11:30 a.m.

The Advisory Panel will review materials related to the development and selection of preferred alternatives for Action 6 of Draft Amendment 20 to the Coastal Migratory Pelagics Fishery Management Plan.

Amendment 20 considers whether the current zone boundaries, allocations, seasons, and trip limits in the commercial mackerel fishery provide the greatest benefit to the industry. To further ensure fair distribution of the resource, the Gulf and South Atlantic Councils are considering measures to allow vessels to transit through closed areas with legally caught fish.  The AP discussion will focus specifically on Action 6, which addresses how Gulf migratory group cobia will be allocated between the Gulf and the South Atlantic.

Anyone interested in watching the Advisory Panel meeting can register for the webinar herehttps://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/416806802. Copies of the agenda and other related materials can be obtained by calling 813-348-1630.

Although other non-emergency issues not on the agenda may come before the AP for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during this meeting.  Actions of the AP will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in the agenda and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under Section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, provided the public has been notified of the Council's intent to take action to address the emergency.

This meeting is physically accessible to people with disabilities. Requests for sign language interpretation or other auxiliary aids should be directed to Kathy Pereira at the Council office at least five working days prior to the meeting.
