Plans to raise prices for hunters and boaters may be dead in the water

There’s good news for Florida’s hunters and fishermen.

Automatic increases to boat registration fees, and fishing & hunting licenses that were scheduled to take effect on July 1st have been delayed and could be removed completely.

The proposal was to increase the fees this year and then automatically every other year after that with the increase based on the consumer price index.

This year, however, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission requested that the increases be delayed until 2015 because of the current state of the economy.

In response, both the Senate and the Legislature filed bills that would completely do away with the scheduled increases.

And as long as the governor signs the bills – hunters and boaters will continue to pay the same rates they are now for the foreseeable future.
