6th Annual Run for Wakulla Springs

Children’s Fishing Tournament

May 18, 2013
Open to boys and girls ages 3 to 15. The tournament is free to all children and lunch will be provided to all participants from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woolley Park. Games, rides and exhibitions will be in the park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and trophies and prizes will be awarded after the weigh-in is completed.
Fish for Freshwater fish which includes: bass, pan fish and catfish. OR Fish for Saltwater species including: white trout, Speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, redfish, flounder and whiting. All anglers will receive a tournament t-shirt at the registration table. 2013 Wakulla Children’s Fishing Tournament
Fish out of Panacea Harbor Marina from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with last tournament fleet boat leaving at 8:30 a.m.
Weigh-In from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Woolley Park in Panacea. No weigh-ins taken later than 2 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS

Big Bend Hospice to Break Ground for Jean McCully Family House

Community leaders, elected officials and medical professionals will gather at Big Bend Hospice on Tuesday, May 21, for a dedication ceremony and groundbreaking event designed to expand the organization’s ability to serve those in the community with life-limiting illnesses. The ceremony and groundbreaking for the new “Jean McCully Family House” will take place from 10 – 11:30 a.m., along with an announcement about the upgrading of the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House facility.
Expected speakers for the groundbreaking event are:

Join Covenant Hospice Award-Winning Volunteer Team

 
Covenant Hospice is seeking individuals and groups to join its award-winning volunteer team. A training workshop will be held from [9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. SaturdayJune 1st] at the Wakulla County Library, located at [4330 Crawfordville HighwayThe workshop is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Covenant Hospice Volunteer Training will present an overview of hospice care and volunteer choices. Individuals and groups are needed to provide support for Covenant programs including office work, community outreach, and fundraising. Patient and family support volunteers are needed

Wakulla County Sheriff Department Raising Funds for Project Graduation


The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is selling tickets for a chance to win two pieces of original artwork created by Deputy Katie Deal. Copies of the artwork is linked below  and is photographic work of an alligator at Wakulla Springs and hummingbirds in Costa Rica. The tickets are available from Susie Bowen and others at the WCSO. They are $10 each for a chance at the two pieces of artwork. The money raised is being put toward the Wakulla High School Project Graduation celebration at Wakulla Springs State Park on Thursday, May 30. Only 250 tickets will be sold and the artwork is valued at $325. The winning ticket will be selected that night.
