County commissioners applying for grant for energy efficient lighting for ballfields

County commissioners have agreed to apply for a grant to purchase energy efficient lights for two local ballfields.

County administrative director Alan Pierce said it appears that Franklin County is eligible for funds that the county could use to replace the energy in-efficient lights at Vrooman Park in Eastpoint and D.W. Wilson Park in Apalachicola with new energy efficiency lights.

The new lighting will equal or improve existing lighting conditions at the ballfields and save money for the county parks and recreation department.

Alan Pierce said the lights at Kendrick Park in Carrabelle are already energy efficient and do not need to be replaced.
