TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Apalachicola Public Shooting Range has reopened to the public.
Firefighters from the Apalachicola National Forest worked on rehabilitating the area around the range, which was burned during the Gun Range Fire last February. Wildland fire rehabilitation is a response effort to improve forest health after wildfires; restoring the condition of the area so habitat can continue to flourish in a post-fire environment.
The Forest Service is responsible for managing post-fire work on federal lands, which involves emergency stabilization, rehabilitation and restoration activities.
For additional information on the Apalachicola Public Shooting Range and other recreation sites, please call the Wakulla Ranger District office at 850-926-1904.
