Skeletal remains found in wooded area in Carrabelle believed to be missing Lanark Village man

The Franklin County sheriff’s office said skeletal remains discovered Monday near Lake Morality Road in Carrabelle are believed to be Lanark Village resident Cody Diorio.

Mister Diorio was 22 years old – he had been missing since early April.

The sheriff’s department have been asking for help from the public in finding him since Mister Diorio’s car was found in a wooded area east of Lake Morality Road on April 2nd.

The sheriff’s office received a call on Monday from someone who found the remains – sheriff’s officials were able to ascertain that the remains were human.

FDLE and officers from the Department of Corrections were called in and collected the remains and other evidence from around the scene.

Clothing and shoes found at the scene were consistent with items Mister Diorio was wearing when he was last seen.

The Medical Examiners office will make a final identification using DNA or dental records.

The Sheriff’s office says the preliminary investigation does not suggest foul play.
