Local unemployment falls slightly in August

Franklin County saw a drop in unemployment in August.
Local unemployment fell from 5.5 percent to 5.2 percent; only three counties had a lower unemployment rate than ours.
283 people were looking for work in Franklin County in August, down from 301 in July.
Gulf County also saw its unemployment fall from 7.2 to 6.9 percent.
411 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month, down from 436 the month before.
In Wakulla County the unemployment rate fell from 5.9 to 5.5 percent.
In Liberty County there was a drop in unemployment from 6.6 to 6.3 percent.
Overall, the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell slightly to 7 percent in August.
