Carrabelle named "Boaters Best Getaway"

           Carrabelle has received a “Boaters best Getaway” award from the Florida By Water website.

Every year the site picks a great site for boaters based on a number of criteria including boat ramp access, water accessible accommodations, dockside dining, boating locations and activities and marina availability.

Rusty Gardner, President of Florida By Water, said that he chose the community because it is truly a boater’s paradise with no big chain stores and only local accommodations.

He added that boaters can find some of Florida’s best seafood in Carrabelle and easy water access to destinations including Dog Island, St. George Island, the Gulf of Mexico and p

the Carrabelle River.

Carrabelle also boasts two museums and a Lighthouse to visit when you’re not on a boat.

The award was presented to Sheila Hauser of Southern Breeze Media and Suzanne Zimmerman, Executive Director-Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce, on September 28^th.
