Governor Rick Scott calls for 15 day hurricane sales tax holiday

Governor Rick Scott is calling for a 15-day sales tax holiday for hurricane preparedness supplies as of part his budget proposal.

If it’s approved, the proposed sales tax holiday would begin June 1^st, which is the first day of hurricane season, and run through June 14^th.

The sales tax holiday covers hurricane preparation supplies, such as flashlights, batteries, weather radios, and other basic items that are essential to building a disaster supply kit.

The sales tax holiday also includes Portable generators that are used to provide light or communications or preserve food in the event of a power outage selling for $750 or less.
