Two
Crawfordville men were arrested Sunday while burglarizing a church in Medart.
20 year old Tyler Dylan Trice and
21 year old Dewin Velez-Alvarez were arrested at 4 AM Sunday while taking items from the Medart Assembly
of God Church.
They were caught after a
concerned citizen reported a potential burglary at the site.
The men had taken speakers, an
amplifier, computer equipment, a camcorder, electronic games, two guitars and
chocolate candies from the church and used the church van to transport the
items to a vacant home where the items were being stored.
All of the stolen items from the
church were recovered and returned to the church.
The stolen items are valued at
$1,800. Damage to the church doors and locks is estimated at $1,200.
Detectives also connected Trice
and Velez-Alvarez to a second burglary on January 30 that involved the Promised
Land Ministry Thrift store in Crawfordville where they took a safe with a small
amount of cash, a watch and two bicycles.
The men have been charged with
two counts of burglary, possession of burglary tools, vehicle theft, two counts
of criminal mischief and two counts of larceny in the case.
They two men are being held in
the Wakulla County Jail with no bond.
