Wall Street Journal recognizes Apalachicola as "Old Florida"

Franklin County was featured in a story in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.

The story, titled “Where to Find Old, Classic Florida” features four areas of the sunshine state that still holds that old Florida charm.

Apalachicola, Boca Grand, Sanibel Island and Anna Maria are discussed as discussed as places that still have a “sense of place and soul.”

Apalachicola is described as a town with a “fishing-town feel” with a “southern vibe that results from being closer to Alabama than Orlando.”

A number of local businesses are mentioned in the article including the Coombs House Inn, Café Con Leche, and Up the Creek raw bar among others.

The beaches of St. George Island are also mentioned as is the Fisherman’s wife restaurant in Carrabelle.
