#1642 Aquaculture Shellfish Harvesting Update - Reopening with precautionary closure zone due to dredging

The Florida department of Agriculture will re-open most of area 1642 to oyster harvesting on Wednesday.

That’s the conditionally approved winter east shellfish harvest area.

The area was closed last week as a precaution because of heavy rainfall.

A section of 1642 will remain closed because of an ongoing dredging project along the intracoastal waterway.

The area that will remain closed is between the old bridge causeway
and the power poles.
