Eastpoint woman killed in head-on collision in Gulf County

An Eastpoint woman was killed and two people received critical injuries in a 2 vehicle accident in Port St. Joe on Friday.

The Highway Patrol said 42 year old Jeanetta Hawkins of Eastpoint died after being struck head on by a vehicle driving in the wrong lane of Highway 98.

The accident report says that Miss Hawkins was heading west on Highway 98 just after noon on Friday; she was just west of Port St. Joe when a Chevy Tahoe drove into her lane.

The driver of the Tahoe, 72 year old Richard MacDonald of Port St. Joe and his wife, Mary MacDonald were both critically injured in the collision.

Officers say they do nor know if alcohol played a role in the crash.


Charges are pending further investigation.
