A proposal that could lower the amount you pay to register your
vehicles is moving through the
legislature.
The Florida
House Finance & Tax Subcommittee has introduced a proposal to significantly
cuts the taxes, fees, and surcharges for motor vehicle licenses.
If the proposal
becomes law, registration costs would be reduced by $25.05 for heavy weight
vehicles, $21.55 for middle weight vehicles, and $18.55 for light weight
vehicles.
The House
proposal would save Floridians about $395 million dollars a year.
If the measure
passes, the reduction would take effect on September 1st.
