County commissioners agreed this week to allow the Franklin
County Sheriff’s Office to sign an agreement with Sacred Heart Hospital to
provide reduced rates for medical services provided to inmates at the county
jail, if needed.
Sacred
heart operates the hospital in Port St. Joe.
The
Sheriff’s Office has a similar agreement with other hospitals in the region
including Weems, Memorial, TMH and Bay medical.
The
agreement insures that the sheriff’s department will receive reduced medical
rates for inmates who have to be treated in an emergency situation regardless
of which hospital is providing the services.
