Manatee Rescue and Release in Oldsmar, FL
On June 27, 2012, biologists at FWRI's Marine Mammal Pathobiology Laboratory received the first report of a manatee entrapped in a retention pond system in Oldsmar. The following day, FWRI staff discovered that not one, but two manatees were entrapped in the retention ponds. Both manatees were rescued, found to be healthy and released immediately in Pinellas County waters.

This video was shot in September 2013, in the main lobby at the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute where two manatee skeletons (adult and calf) hang permanently from the ceiling.
