Bike path planned for Bayshore Drive in Eastpoint

County Commissioners are taking the first steps for a bike path project in Eastpoint.

On Tuesday the county commission signed an agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation to start designing a bike path that would run along North and South Bayshore Drive.

The bike path would reach from Island Drive along South Bayshore to the existing bike path on North Bayshore Drive.

Commissioner Pinki Jackel said she would like to see the path extended to the end of North Bayshore Drive and said she would use some of her paving budget if necessary to see that it is done.

County Director of Administrative Services Alan Pierce said the design should be done this year and construction will occur after July 1^st, 2015.
