Gulf of Mexico Ad Hoc Red Snapper For-Hire Advisory Panel 
to Meet in Tampa, Florida
  
The Gulf of Mexico  Fishery Management Council will convene its Red Snapper For-Hire Advisory Panel December 2-3, 2014, at the DoubleTree Tampa Airport Westshore hotel in Tampa, Florida. The meeting will begin at 9:00 am Tuesday and conclude by noon Wednesday

The Panel is charged with making recommendations to the Council relative to the design and implementation of flexible measures for the management of red snapper for the for-hire sector. Some of the issues on the agenda include:
  • Discussion of for-hire data collection
  • Overview of management techniques in fisheries
  • Review of the Headboat Collaborative pilot program
  • Discussion of short- and long-term potential management measures
  • Recommendations to the Council

Although non-emergency issues not contained in this agenda may come before this group for discussion, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during this meeting. Action will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in this notice and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, provided the public has been notified of the Council's intent to take final action to address the emergency.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional Fishery Management Councils established by the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976. The Council prepares fishery management plans, which are designed to manage fishery resources within the 200-mile limit of the Gulf of Mexico.
